2017 in a Nutshell

I know I say this every year, but 2017 flew by…
I think this is more true than other years just because it was such a BUSY YEAR.

I completed three lots of placement in 2017, which was very difficult and yet, fulfilling.

In January, I did 15 days of placement at my current ELC, starting in the Babies Room and finishing up in the Kinder Room. In April/May, I did 20 days with a Foundation/Prep class and then in July/August, I did another 20 days with a Grade 3 class! Slowly moving up in age was great, especially as I initially was very worried with the older age group. I loved every one of my placements and it’s just really satisfying knowing that I’m on the right track with what I want to do.

I also said a sad goodbye to my first car and welcomed in my second one!

And finally, probably my biggest accomplishment yet, I flew to Europe all by myself!

I met up with Ash in Paris, but flying from MEL > HKG > FRA > CDG was very nerve-wrecking for someone like who has never really done anything by herself before! I am very proud of myself for getting through the entire journey well with no real hiccups throughout. And of course, Europe with Ash was awesomeee and I’ll definitely need to post about that soon.

All in all, 2017 was an exhausting but fun year! Let’s bring on 2018!

2016 in a Nutshell

It is incredibly amazing (yet scary) how fast 2016 has flown by!
It has definitely been a great year, and I think I can define 2016 as the Year of Travel.

One of the main highlights of 2016 was that it was the year that marks my first trip overseas ever!
In February, Ash and I embarked on our first journey to Japan. Neither of us had ever traveled overseas before so it was a rather memorable experience for both of us. My dream of visiting Japan was finally fulfilled and I can’t wait to go back again! (Seriously, we keep planning all the places we’ll visit hahaha)

We also had a short trip to Sydney in June, which was also lots of fun.

I think in 2016 alone, we stayed in 5 Airbnbs, 1 Ryokan,  1 Resort and 1 Hotels!!
It was actually really nice to be able to get away  from reality and escape to these many places.

The other highlight of 2016 was being able to meet several band members/celebrities!
While some we may have paid for, the rest were met at bars after the concerts which was super awesome.

2016 was also filled with quite a couple of unexpected farewells, but it just opened up the door to making new friends!

Farewell 2016! You’ve been fun, and I hope that 2017 will be just as good ♥

2015 in a Nutshell

It’s crazy to think that it feels like just yesterday that we were welcoming 2015!
This year has flown past really quickly and it’s worrying to think that I might be at that age where years begin to blend together eep. Seriously though, I vividly remember painting my nails for Easter :|

Anyway, when I’ve made these ‘year in a nutshell’ posts in the past, I’ve always been able to go through my photos and pick out the memorable moments of the year. But when I had a look at my photos for 2015, all I could find was food photo after food photo!? 90% of them being burgers lol! So because of this I dub 2015 the burger year.

Check Ash’s instagram @encephlon to find out his top 10 eatsburgers for 2015!

No, really. We ate a lot of burgers lol. The above image is a “quick” compilation of only some of the burgers we consumed in 2015!! What theeee!!! And can you imagine that there is so much more than this photo holds purely because 1) I don’t always take photos of my food 2) there wouldn’t be enough space on this screen to fit all of them! Hah. So this explains my weight gain hah (srs tho I’m a fatty boomba now ;A;)

Thankfully, I managed to find some photos of things other than food and burgers hahaha.
2015 was also the year for education! I have my Bachelors of Biomed, Cert in Educational Support, as well as undertaking my Masters of Teaching (Primary) and Dip of Early Childhood. Super study load at the moment heh.

And I actually think most importantly, 2015 also held a huge ‘visual’change for me.
I’ll do a proper blog post about this in 2016 but I made the brave step to undertake Orthokeratology (Ortho-K). Simply, this is an overnight vision correction method that works by me wearing specially made hard-lens while I sleep. Because of this amazing treatment, I am able to see clearly for the first time without needing to wear glasses/contacts during the day. I promise I’ll post about Ortho-K soon but for now, just know that it is a much recommended option.

As all years, 2015 had many ups and downs but I believe it was overall a good year.
Let’s hope 2016 will be an amazing year for all of us too ♥

Happy New Year!
